Safe Staffing legislation would establish appropriate staffing levels through a collaborative effort with hospital administrators and direct care nurses.

Legislative Zip Code Lookup This plan is not a “one-size-fits-all” approach to staffing. Instead, each medical facility tailors staffing plans based on the unique factors of each patient unit. Factors include patient acuity, experience of the nursing staff, and the skill mix of the staff, available technology and support services available to the nurses. This practical approach allows each facility’s healthcare community to determine the nurse staffing levels needed to adequately meet patient needs.
